For nearly 15 years, the predecessor of Miš Publishing has been known to the Slovene school- and public libraries for providing them with books from several Slovene publishing companies. Then, in 2003, a growing interest in quality literature for youth sparked the release of the first set of works under the trademark of Miš Publishing.

We can compress the mission of the publishing house into these words:
‘…to follow the needs of Slovene readers of different reading capabilities by releasing recognized literary works, original Slovene as well as translations, while focusing on the quality of the texts, illustrations, and implementation. We build long-term relations with our buyers, readers and authors through our constant striving for perfection.’

The publishing house releases 30 to 40 new titles every year, three quarters of which are youth works by excellent Slovene and foreign authors. In 2008, the house was placed first in the Slovene publishing field regarding the number of books with at least one “pear”, a reward conferred by Pionirska – Centre for Youth Literature and Librarianship. An astonishing 90.5 percent of our youth production won at least one “pear”, meaning that the central Slovene institution for youth literature recognizes them as quality works and recommends them to young readers.
The strategic position of the publishing company is to translate excellent books from countries whose literature has not yet been introduced more than marginally to the Slovene public. We translate recognized works from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Austria, Japan … We choose the best from different countries, continents and cultures.
The most notable authors from our Slovene literature selection are Tone Pavček, Svetlana Makarovič, Aksinja Kermauner, Majda Koren, Bogdan Novak, and several others.
Our foreign literature list includes works by Tim Winton, Nicholas Sparks, James Patterson, Leonard Cohen, Witi Ihimaera, John Boyne, Geraldine McCaugheran, Carl Hiiasen, Guus Kuijer …
We will continue to dedicate our full attention to quality, in the books we publish as well as our relationship to you, our buyers, readers, and authors. And our literature will never cease to unveil new worlds for you.
